Visible 300 - 700nm Long pass Filters
A long-pass filter designed for the visible range of 300 to 700 nm is an optical filter that transmits light with longer wavelengths, whilst blocking or attenuating shorter wavelengths below the cutoff point. More on the uses and applications of visible long pass filters as well case study examples of filters we have manufactured can be found below.
We design and manufacture custom visible long pass filters between 300 nanometres to 700 nm to any custom specification. We hold a wide range of stock substrates such as Glass, Sapphire, Quartz, Calcium Fluoride and more. We also have onsite dicing, so we are able to design, manufacture and dice filters to their finished size with lead times as little as 2 weeks.

Applications

Crime Scene Investigation:
Visible long pass filters play a hugely important role in modern crime scene investigation, the careful positioning of long pass filters can help identify, illuminate and differentiate between potential evidence factors such as blood, bodily fluid, hair, chemical traces, fingerprints and fraudulent document analysis.

Fluorescence Microscopy:
In fluorescence imaging Long-pass filters are used to block the excitation light (shorter wavelengths) while allowing the emission light (longer wavelengths) to pass through, enabling the visualisation of specific fluorescent molecules. Visible long pass filters also play an important role in Raman spectroscopy, they are used to separate the weak Raman scattered light from the strong excitation light, allowing for the accurate measurement of Raman spectra.

Biomedical Applications:
In Fluorescence Detection long-pass filters are used in biomedical research and diagnostics to detect fluorescent markers and signals in biological samples, such as fluorescence imaging in cell biology or molecular diagnostics. Long pass filters also play a key role in Blood Oxygenation Measurement, in pulse oximetry, long-pass filters are employed to separate the red and infrared light components to measure blood oxygen saturation levels.

Display Technologies:
Long-pass filters can be used as colour filters in displays or lighting systems to produce specific colours and effects or to block unwanted colours and wavelengths.

Environmental Monitoring:
In water quality analysis Long-pass filters can be used to detect specific pollutants or contaminants that absorb or emit light of a longer wavelength range.
