Case Study: Enhancing Coating Uniformity and Quality for Improved Imaging System Performance
Customer Challenge: This customer approached Vortex due to ‘variable image quality’ within their system. It became clear from our analysis of customer samples, that batch coating uniformity issues were responsible. This meant that some filters within a batch were outside specification or some sections of the used area not meeting the specification. Consequently, image quality was compromised resulting in blurred, shadowed, or duplicated images.
Vortex’s Solution: At Vortex we have refined our coating uniformity and quality over many years by optimising both our coating machines and processes, we have maximised uniformity across the coating chamber through precise masking techniques. This meticulous attention to detail ensured that the entire used area of the substrates is uniformly coated across the whole batch, another benefit of a large uniform area in our coating plant is that it allows us to coat more substrates per run enabling us to offer competitive prices for higher volume applications.
The Result: Through Vortex’s innovative solutions and commitment to quality, the customer experienced a significant improvement in instrument performance and less complaints from the field. Vortex’s dedication to continuous improvement and excellence in coating technology has made us as a trusted partner in delivering superior solutions for diverse imaging system requirements.
