Case Study: Large Volume Visible Broadband Anti Reflection Coating.

Customer Challenge: This customer wanted a large volume of visible broadband anti-reflection coated lenses for use as a protective lens on a camera application. The key for this product was to deliver high levels of repeatability from coating run to coating run for this high-volume application whilst also keeping prices competitive through maximising internal efficiencies.

Vortex’s Solution: For this application a larger coating chamber is required to maximise the number of substrates in each run. It is also crucial to have excellent uniformity in these coating chambers as with a larger surface area of substrates to coat all areas must receive the same uniform coating. We also have our own state of the art optimal ultrasonic cleaning system. With a local laser cutting firm we have been able to develop excellent “easy load” tooling enabling us to clean 1000’s of substrates per hour which by hand would just not be possible, helping us to keep prices competitive.

The Result: We have been able to successfully deliver this product year after year with full batch traceability so should any batch need to be identified we are able to trace it back to its specific pair of coating runs. This example highlights Vortex as an excellent partner for high production volume applications.

This process is a standard process and can be adapted and coated onto any substrate with any refractive index, please contact us to discuss the specifics of your requirement.
