Case Study: Short Wave Pass Filter to Block Unwanted Sensitivity of a Lead Sulphide (PbS) Detector
This short-wave pass was designed for a customer who wanted to block the tail end sensitivity of a lead sulphide detector. Lead sulphide detectors have a sensitivity range of 1000-3000 nm and the customer wanted to avoid signal being received by the detector above 2650 nm, so we supplied the filter of Fig 1 above to block this short range of 2600 – 3000 nm whilst maintaining a high transmission level above 80% from 1300 – 2500 nm. Short pass filters are an excellent option for “trimming” or “blocking” the longer wavelengths and can be fitted to LED’s, Light Sources and detectors to avoid unwanted radiation and the associated ‘false positive’ results.
