Beamsplitters and Dichroic Filters
- They are placed in optical systems usually at 45° to separate (or combine) different wavebands or wavelengths. One band is reflected from the front surface the 2nd band is transmitted through, see diagram below.
- They can be used to separate different planes of polarisation.
