Case Study: Innovative Coating Solutions for New Product Development

Customer Challenge: An existing customer contacted us about the development of a new system. Notionally they required a 450 narrow band pass filter. Unsure of the final specification, we produced a small sample batch of 10 accurately measured filters with an agreed range of centre wavelengths (CWL s). This allowed the customer not only to establish proof of concept but also accurately define the specification for follow on production with a high degree of accuracy and confidence. The CWL was particularly stringent (see table above!) coupled with a high peak transmission and deep blocking. The project also involved defining appropriate longwave and shortwave pass filters and some beam-splitters (dichroic) for the same system.

Vortex’s Customised Approach: With our 11 fully automated coating machines featuring varying chamber sizes, we can cater for requirements for both large and small volume and development projects. This flexibility allows Vortex to support the customer in launching new products on time and offering competitive pricing. The development of new products is a key strength of Vortex.

The Outcome: It worked and the product launch was on time This collaborative effort exemplifies Vortex’s commitment to innovation and delivering high-quality coating solutions to support customers.
